Why do I collect minerals?

That’s the question I often ask myself while searching for rocks. Often you work very hard, hammering away at rocks without finding anything. More frustrating is when your son or friend beside you, find the specimens that you dream of. At moments like this, my answer would be, I don’t know why I collect minerals… maybe I should collect stamps.

But, when you find the rock that yields good crystals, you will say: look…. That’s why I collect. To see the beauty, form and the colour of the crystal… Just have a look at my digital photos and maybe you might be infected too with the same virus as me …. collecting minerals.

Anyway… even if you don’t find minerals, you are outside in the open air,  which is much better for your health than lazing on a sofa in front of a TV-set or playing darts in a smoky pub while drinking too many beers.
